Ukhrul athletes bag medals at NE bodybuilding champ

Athletes from Ukhrul district contributed five of Manipur’s seven medals, including two gold medals, two bronze medals and a fifth-place finish in the bodybuilding championship.

Manipur emerged as the team champion after winning seven medals at the 2nd Mr North-east India Bodybuilding and Physique Championship, being held in Kohima, Nagaland, from September 11 to 13.

Athletes from Ukhrul district contributed five of Manipur’s seven medals, including two gold medals, two bronze medals and a fifth-place finish.

Worthan Lunglo of Ramva village won gold in the 60kg Open category, while Mishap Khapai of Kaziphung secured gold in the 65kg Open category.

Lungreishim Kasar, also from Ramva village, won bronze in the 60kg Open category. M Pihimas claimed another bronze in the 55kg Open category. Pihimas is among the athletes supported through sponsorship.

Phila Yangya finished fifth in the Women’s Model Physique category.

A total of seven athletes from the Royal Gymnasium in Ukhrul, participated in the championship as part of the Manipur team.
