A review meeting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Kamjong district on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Electoral Roll Observer for 43-Phungyar (ST) AC and Commissioner (MA/OBC & SC), Government of Manipur, Armstrong Pame, IAS. It was attended by the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, L.N. Kashung, Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky, Additional District Election Officer and ADC H.L. Jain, election officials and representatives of recognised national and state political parties.
During the meeting, issues relating to required documents, public doubts and discrepancies in the ongoing SIR were brought to the notice of the observer.
After hearing the concerns, Pame directed the Electoral Registration Officer and other election officials to ensure that the electoral rolls are accurate and free from ineligible or duplicate electors, while making sure that no eligible voter is left out.
