Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), India’s leading test preparation and educational services organisation, on Wednesday announced two significant milestones at a press meet held in Imphal.
AESL formally opened its first centre in the state of Manipur, based in Imphal, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam Rifles to extend scholarships, mentoring and other academic benefits to the personnel and their families across the country.
AESL’s new centre in Imphal is located at Thaoroijam, Imphal West, near Heaven Garden, marking the company’s first physical presence in the state and extending its national network of coaching centres in the North-East. Spread over 8000 sq ft of area, the new centre has five classrooms accommodating over 300 students.
AESL already has eight centres in the North-East located at Agartala (Tripura), Dimapur (Nagaland), and Guwahati, Kamrup, Nagaon, Silchar, Jorhat and Dibrugarh (Assam).
With this launch, aspiring engineering and medical students in Imphal and the wider Manipur region will be able to access Aakash’s coaching for NEET, IIT-JEE and other medical and engineering entrance examinations without having to relocate to other cities, and get high-quality, structured exam preparation closer home.
AESL also announces a long-term partnership with Assam Rifles establishing a structured academic welfare framework across the region, offering tailored scholarship programmes, fee concessions, and dedicated academic support for Assam Rifles personnel and their families.
The welfare programme features a layered fee-waiver structure designed to make education more accessible for Assam Rifles personnel and their families. Under the MoU, personnel who died in harness will receive a 100 per cent course fee waiver, with only registration and admission fees payable.
Gallantry awardees and personnel with more than 20 per cent disability will be eligible for a 90 per cent tuition fee waiver. Personnel with less than 20 per cent disability will receive a 50 per cent waiver on tuition fees.
Serving and retired staff, along with Assam Rifles Public School personnel and students, will be eligible for up to a 30 per cent tuition fee reduction.
Similar MoUs have earlier been signed with the Indian Army, CRPF, BSF and ITBP.
