The All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA) has announced a formidable state team to represent Manipur at the upcoming 2nd Mr. North East India Bodybuilding and Physique Championship, set to take place in Kohima, Nagaland, from September 11 to 13, 2026.
The squad was finalized following a rigorous trial selection process conducted by the association on Sunday. Among those selected to carry the state flag are seven athletes from the Royal Gymnasium in Ukhrul, highlighting the rising dominance of Tangkhul bodybuilders on the regional stage.
The Ukhrul contingent includes M. Pihimas (55 kg), Worthan Lunglo (60 kg), Lungreishim Kasar (60 kg), Mishap Khanpai (65 kg), and Ngashipam Ragui (65 kg). Furthermore, the state’s representation in the Women’s Model Physique category will be spearheaded by two athletes from the same gym: Phila Yangya and Thuiling Muivah.
The broader Manipur team features a diverse lineup of talent from across the state. Other athletes in the state team are Pritam Nahakpam (70 kg) representing KMCFC, Kumbi, and a trio of heavyweights in the 75 kg-plus category: Khumukcham Warren Singh (Royal Gym, Ningmothong), Khoiron Bikramjit (Makar Fitness, Yairipok), and Naorem Fredy (DJ Gym, Kakching).
Supporting the athletes on their journey to Kohima will be a dedicated management and coaching staff, with S. Dhurba Singh appointed as the team manager and S. Biramani Singh serving as the coach.
